This week, I had an excellent Hong Kong pre-wedding photography shoot with my new friends Maya and Guy. Our shoot started at their residence in Mid-Levels Hong Kong, where we were able to make a few “family portraits” of them with their dogs. Maya had purchased these silly little bride and groom costumes for the dogs, so it was a perfect opportunity to make some cute photographs. We had also planned to shoot on the rooftop of their building, but after a disgruntled neighbor wouldn’t let us use their deck, we decided to cab it to iconic Victoria’s Peak for a view of beautiful Hong Kong.
It was a sunny and hot Sunday afternoon, and I was blessed to have Guy’s brother, Shahar, acting as my lighting assistant. It wasn’t long before we were all sweating our butts off, so we headed over to Shek O beach for some cold drinks and some trash the dress photographs.
We had planned to do a few more formal portraits on the beach, but after Guy handed Maya a loaded squirt gun, our shoot got funny fast. From that point on it was all play and mischief for these two! We were surrounded by the smiling faces of romantic Hong Kong beach goers as these two betrothed goofed off and played pranks on each other.
I love adventurous couples that are eager to do something a little more special for their pre-wedding shoot. Laughter is not something you can fake, and as you can see from the images, these two had a great time. Whenever I do a pre-wedding shoot, I always make sure that we come away with the images needed for save date cards, and images to make “the parents” happy too. But once we get that out of the way, it’s all fun and games and making original images that will last a lifetime.
A special thank you to these two for being such a fun couple to photograph.
