For Diana & Renard’s two year anniversary we wanted to do a shoot that had a Hong Kong Pre Wedding Photography theme. We wanted it to be not only adventurous but also capture the diverse beauty of Hong Kong and how it reflects their relationship. In my opinion the beaches in Shek O are some of the most spectacular in all of Hong Kong, so I had just the cove in mind when we discussed making some in-water photographs. I always invite the opportunity to use my underwater housing on shoots so that we can utilize the landscape to make images that many people have never seen before.
Needless to say these two were total rockstars and were more than willing to do some serious climbing to get in position for “the shot”. During our shoot the waves really picked up and getting out proved to be a bit challenging. Luckily I had my assistant Katie on location with me and she was able to take my housing as I got out of the water. A few good size gashes in my hand were a friendly reminder that I need to wear gloves next time. That being said, I think we’re all very pleased with how things worked out.
Our second location for the day was Repulse Bay on the other side of Hong Kong Island. Compliments to Diana for this excellent location choice, the monument and landscape provided a very authentic Chinese atmosphere. Originally we had discussed shooting at Avenue Of The Stars overlooking the City, but choosing old Hong Kong over new Hong Kong was a great choice. Again a big thank you to this lovely couple and to my assistant Katie for dedicating the better part of an entire day to the shoot.
